Fairy Unicorn Color Scheme Ideas
So how do you mix vibrant rainbow-loving unicorns with pastel fairies without clashing? Well, my friends, the answer is . . . a good color scheme. Soften and simplify the rainbow so it can play nice with the fairies. Try to think of unicorns more like this:
To tie the theme together even more, add flowers, butterflies, muted rainbows, and generally try to channel a magical meadow full of prancing unicorns and fluttering fairies.
If boys are invited, I’ve been surprised by how many 4-6 year old boys think unicorns are cool! But you also can always incorporate some dragons or a unicorn duel game (see games and activities at the end). 🙂

Whether you choose warm pastels, modern neutrals, or jewel tones, a color scheme will give your party a lot of direction.
Fairy Unicorn Party Invitations
Consider theming your birthday invitation on a phrase like:
✨Magical Meadow✨
✨Enchanted Forest✨
✨Secret Garden✨
Pro tip: Encourage guests to wear either fairy or unicorn costumes, or the colors of your party’s color scheme for cuter party photos.
While there aren’t many invites that have both unicorns and fairies, here are a few that could work.
Dreamy Birthday Cakes
Ah the cake, that gorgeous confection crowned with candles. To prevent the cake from being too busy, either go with a floral theme, or choose either unicorns or fairies for the cake; then do a second treat to feature the other creature. Continue to tie in the whimsy with flowers and butterflies, and the color palette, of course.
These mini cakes though! Fairy-approved for sure.
Make a unicorn carousel cake with a unicorn cookie cutter, sparkly unicorn candle, unicorn figurine (we love these), or paper unicorns.
Just dreamy. Get these edible butterflies HERE.
Or use edible flowers. But both preferably.
Party Decor
There are tons of fairy unicorn party ideas for decor (whether you DIY or purchase). But if I’m going to spend a lot of time or money on party decor, I like to either know I could reuse it for a future party, decorate our daughters’ rooms with it afterwards, or resell it. Things to keep in mind.

Fairy Unicorn Party Food Ideas
Themed party food is one of the best ways to delight guests, especially the adults in attendance.
I’m still low key freaking out about discovering edible butterflies. Can you imagine the look on a kid’s face when you tell them they can eat it?
Yep, these beauties are spun from sugar. Put them on your cake, cupcakes, whatever. But you should definitely get some. Simply hold them over some steam and they will soften so you can fold them into position.
(I also love these pink and blue sugar butterflies.)
Like I said, they take desserts up a notch.
But you can also top treats with a rainbow of forest fruit.
And here’s some healthy frozen unicorn yogurt bark that’s made with fruit, yogurt, honey and coconut flakes.
These unicorn noodles are a magical science project/activity/food all in one! Consider having a sauce to add to them after the kids are done experimenting.
There are a surprising number of edible flowers out there. Add fairy magic with these lavender shortbread cookies.
Rainbow dips! These seriously looks delicious, and I love finding a way to sneak homemade guacamole into a party. It seems to be one of the best party foods.
Frozen yogurt, milk and cereal pops? Easy and unicorn-approved.
Fairy Unicorn Party Games and Activities
Choose a mix of fairy and unicorn games and activities to engage the little party goers.

Everyone should have a unicorn name, right? I bet all the adults will try it too.
Bubble dance party!
Paper doll printable that’s free from Meri Meri. They also have a cute unicorn printable that’s part of their free princess set.
Crafts are always a hit with kids. Decorate a fairy hut, a star wand, fairy wings, a nature’s treasure chest, or a magical creature garden.
Other game ideas:
*Dueling unicorns (tape a balloon to the kiddos, then give them pointy party hats to try to knock it off, or here’s a more intense unicorn duel for older kids)
*Magic face paint
*Pin the horn on the unicorn
*Fairy visitor
*Unicorn pony rides
Now that you have a basket full of fairy unicorn party ideas, you’re on your way to creating a memorable day for your kiddo where their dreams come true. At the end of the day, that’s what really counts, right?
Happy party planning!
