Pretty bridal shower games your guests will actually like

Here are five bridal shower games for large groups that aren’t cringeworthy. These bridal shower game ideas are especially perfect for a lot of people but they also work for a small group.

Let’s be honest, if you have good food and plenty of time to chat, your guests will be happy. But a good bridal shower game that isn’t cheesy or pushy can make a bridal shower memorable and playfully engaging.

So, if chill, yet classy games are your thing, then you’re in the right place.

Move over wedding bingo, toilet paper dresses, and annoying games that won’t let you say the word ‘bride,’ these bridal shower games for large groups are chic, pretty, and enjoyable for all your guests.

The trick with a large group is to have optional activities that guests are welcome to participate in at their leisure (like #1-3), or are quick to do with a lot of people (like #4), or are games that everyone can enjoy at the same time (#5).

So cheers to spoiling that special bride with these 5 different bridal shower activity ideas that are oh-so classy.

1. Guess the Dress

This is one of my favorites that I wish I saw at more showers. Wedding dress shopping is hands down one of the best parts of wedding planning. I mean, hello gorgeous dresses! Let your guests get a sneak peek of this special moment with this guess the dress game.

Use this adorable blush pink polaroid camera to snap some photos of your friend when she tries on dresses.

But if she already went dress shopping, no worries, just print out the photos from her phone. Bonus points for printing an entertaining picture of a dress she doesn’t like and it shows on her face.

For a large group try to have 10 ish photos. For a smaller group do closer to 6. Have two prizes, and if more than 2 people guess correctly, do a drawing for the winners.

Simple, personal, and so cute!

2. Notes for the Bride

Another great simple bridal shower activity for large groups is a little note station. Invite guests to write a favorite memory they have of the bride or share one of their best pieces of marriage or wedding advice.

I love these pink wavy-edged cards from Etsy, but like these kraft paper ones from Amazon have a line about a date night which is brilliant.

If the bride is a word-appreciator, she will love these sweet messages.

Another cute alternative of this would be a date night jar or a favorite recipe jar.

3. Flower Bar

If you have the budget, this is such a gorgeous bridal shower activity. Depending on the look you want, snag this pretty flower bar printable from Etsy, or this wooden bloom bar sign from Etsy. Thrift some glass vases or save pretty glass bottles.

If you have a large group, make sure to have instructions so all the blooms don’t disappear with the first half of guests. Such as:

“Pick 2-3 blooms and add some greenery. Insert them into your floral bag and take your beauty home.”

Make sure to spray your flowers with floral spray to help the bouquets last longer.

Budget friendly option: ask your guests to each bring some flowers/greenery from the store, wildflowers from the mountain, or blooms from their garden.

It’s like a flower potluck.

4. Find the Groom Scratch Off Game

This newer bridal shower game for large groups is so easy and fun! Everyone at our tea party bridal shower loved it.

This set comes with 48 cards, two of which are blank so you can add the groom’s face. Make sure you print out 2 photos of the groom to cut out ahead of time.

The two people who find the groom win prizes.

5. The Newlywed Game (with the cutest surprise)

There are so many ways to play ‘The Newlywed Game,’ but this is one of the best versions. See the tips below. A lot of our guests said they’d seen this game done before, but this was their favorite version yet.

If you’re unfamiliar with the game, it’s a wonderful way for guests to get to know the bride and groom better.

You play by putting the groom in the hot seat ahead of time by filming him answering a variety of questions like what she wore on their first date, what silly irrational fear they each have, who said ‘I love you first’ etc., then at the bridal shower his soon-to-be-bride gives the answers what she thinks he would have said. Guests can guess how many answers will be the same.

Tips for the best Newlywed Game:

  1. Film the groom answering the questions, then swear him to secrecy.
  2. Ask the groom 30 ish questions, then pair it down to the 20 best/funniest/cutest answers (around 15-20 questions is the sweet spot for being long enough, but not too long)
  3. Make a slideshow (I used Canva). Have some of the answers be a slide of words only (to keep the lengthy answers short and sweet), and other answers can be short video clips. This helps keep the presentation moving at a good pace.
  4. Add photos when possible (i.e. for the question ‘which Disney character are you most like?’ show a picture of the character, or for the question ‘how many kids do you want?’ show a baby picture of the bride and groom.
  5. Before you start, tell the guests to turn to their neighbor and say what percentage of the answers the groom will get right. The two who make the closest guesses will win a prize.
  6. Start the game. Introduce the game as the bride will be giving the right answers and we are going to see how many the groom will get right. Then ask the bride the questions in the spur of the moment (recommended). Her candid answers are some of the best. But if being put on the spot would stress her out, you can show the bride the questions a little bit before the party. But no consulting with the groom allowed.
  7. Ask someone ahead of time to keep track of how many answers the groom gets right.
  8. THE SURPRISE. For the very last question ask, “Why do you want to be with [insert bride’s name] forever? Then have the groom make a surprise appearance in person and answer the question live (give him a heads up about this question so he can come up with a really good 1-2 sentence answer). Bonus points if he brings a bouquet or a crown for his bride. This part is SO cute and will take this meaningful game up a notch by surprising both your guests and the bride.
